Our Favorite Tequilas to Sip on for National Tequila Day
Did you know that National Tequila Day was a thing?
At Taqueria 27, we take our tequila very seriously, so you can imagine how important July 24th aka National Tequila Day is to us. If you didn’t know about NTD, that’s okay, because now’s your chance to show your appreciation for the greatest spirit of all. In Utah, it just so happens that the holiday falls on Pioneer Day (or Pie & Beer Day) and we happen to be closed. So why not celebrate National Tequila Day All. Week. Long.
This week, we’re going to celebrate National Tequila Day by talking about some favorite tequilas. If you want to celebrate in style, you’ll come to see us and give one or all of these a try in a cocktail or all by themselves. Pair them with your favorite tacos, and you’ll be off to a great National Tequila Day/Week.
Don Julio 1942
This iconic brand is a favorite of tequila lovers all over the world. The 1942 brand is always produced in small batches and aged for at least 2 and a half years, preserving the quality and craftsmanship that Don Julio Gonzalez brought to the table all those years ago.
As for flavor, you’ll get warm oak, vanilla, and roasted agave notes with a lingering oak and vanilla finish. On the nose, you’ll get rich caramel and chocolate notes, making it the perfect sipping tequila.
Casa Noble – Reposado
Todd and Kristin Gardener handpicked this reposado tequila at Casa Noble distillery – one of the most respected and oldest tequila makers in the world. Barrel #1423 became our signature tequila, exclusive to our five locations. You can read more about the origin of our reposado here.
It’s got a unique flavor profile that is distinct from other reposados. You’ll get substantial amounts of vanilla, caramel, and freshly cooked agave. Try it in our classic margarita or neat/on the rocks with a side of Sangrita.
Vida is a locally owned company, but the amazing highland tequila is produced in Arandas, Mexico. It contains 100% Weber Blue Agave with nothing else added. The Reposado is aged in white oak barrels for 6 months, while the Anejo is aged in French oak barrels for 24 months.
It’s beautiful in our amazing margaritas but certainly holds its own on its own. Come do a beer and a shot on July 24th and see for yourself.
Lunazul is the house tequila at T27, so you’ll get to enjoy it in any of our margaritas and cocktails. We take great care to distill this tequila in house, with estate-grown 100% Blue Weber agave, which is double distilled in small batches, aged in bourbon barrels, and bottled by hand.
We’ll have 8 amazing cocktail recipes with Lunazul ready for you on National Tequila Week, so get down here early with some friends and try them all.
