The Most Popular Tacos in Taqueria 27
Did you know that the word taco originated in the 18th century in Mexican silver mines? It was originally used to name small charges from gunpowder rolled up in paper like taquitos. Plus, the tortilla got invented over 12,000 years ago.
Around the world, people make their tacos differently, for instance, the Greeks have gyros, and the Italians have piadinas. In the U.S., tacos gained popularity in 1905 and have evolved numerous times.
At Taqueria 27 Tacos, we have tacos inspired by a global pantry and utilize the best ingredients available. Please keep reading to learn about the most popular kinds of tacos on our menu.
One of our many specialties is our P.B.L.T.A taco featuring pork belly that is house-smoked, sliced, and seared. The tacos are served with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and jalapeno aioli in flour tortillas.

While fish tacos originated in Baja, California, in the 1950s, they have come a long way. This dish is now popular all over the world and has endless variations.
Duck Confit Tacos
Taqueria 27 tacos also stray from the traditional, as seen with our Duck Confit taco. Confit is a French word that means anything slow-cooked in a liquid. Duck confit, however, is a specific cooking method. First, the meat, traditionally thigh or let meat, gets seasoned, rinsed for several hours, and then cooked low and slow in duck fat.
The confit was born in Gascony, France, initially a preservation method. The ducks would be killed at the end of the summer and cooked and preserved to last through the winter months.
A traditional duck confit recipe includes salt, garlic, thyme, rosemary, and juniper berries. At Taqueria 27, we add chipotle to that recipe to give the tacos a Mexican-inspired twist.
Achiote Marinated Chicken Tacos
Have you ever had a taco and asked yourself what the delicious red, nutty aroma and pepper flavor was? If so, you’ve had the wonderful experience of eating the Mexican spice achiote.
At Taqueria, 27 tacos are our specialty, so our Achiote Marinated Fried Chicken Breast tacos are necessary. The taco comes with salsa crudo, avocado, chipotle crema, and crumbled queso.
